What are EAS label deactivators and activators?
An anti-theft tag deactivator is a device usually installed at the till, which deactivates security tags (including RF, AM and EM) at the point of sale. In the case of EM technology, it is also possible to reactivate the tag, which is used, for example, in libraries.
An EAS label verifier, on the other hand, is a monitoring device that checks whether a label has been correctly deactivated before the customer leaves the detection zone.
What are the differences between a deactivator and a label verifier for gates?
The deactivator is responsible for physically deactivating the security tag, whilst the gate label verifier is used to check that this process has been carried out correctly. Both devices work with EAS systems, but fulfil different functions in the retail loss prevention process.
